DeedPlatMapper is an independent tool built for one specific, narrow problem: turning a metes and bounds legal description — the bearing-and-distance calls found in a deed or survey — into an actual visible shape, quickly, without needing survey software or hiring a surveyor just to see what a description looks like.
You enter each call as a row — a compass quadrant, degrees/minutes/seconds, a second quadrant, and a distance, matching exactly how a real deed writes a bearing — starting from the point of beginning. The tool converts each bearing to a surveying azimuth, walks the calls as vectors from an arbitrary origin, and plots the resulting polygon on a canvas. It reports the perimeter, the enclosed area (via the shoelace/surveyor's formula), and a closure error — how far the last plotted point is from the point of beginning, plus the standard "1:N" precision ratio surveyors use to express how tight a traverse closes. Title researchers scanning a chain of title who want a fast visual sense of what an old description actually describes; rural landowners and buyers trying to understand a deed before ordering a formal survey; and anyone sanity-checking whether a set of calls copied from a deed actually closes, which catches transcription mistakes (a flipped quadrant, a transposed digit) before they propagate further. It is explicitly not built to replace the work of a licensed surveyor for anything with legal or financial weight.

The formulas used are standard, published surveying and geometry math (quadrant bearing conversion, the shoelace formula), not a proprietary or unusual method.
